Small business owners must remain focused on marketing efforts

If you own a small business, chances are you are wearing multiple hats. Not only are you the CEO, you're the janitor, marketing professional and many other things. Often times, the need to wear multiple hats leads you to fall behind in other areas. Many times, that lacking part of the business is promoting your business.
There are many things you can do to promote your business, provided you maintain the discipline and have a vision for what you'd like to communicate to your potential customers or clients. This all starts with consistency.
If you're utilizing social media or other advertising methods, you must remain consistent in not only your messaging but in frequency. Below are three ideas to help you or your business remain consistent.
Write a realistic marketing plan
Writing a realistic plan of how you'd like to promote or advertise your business is the foundation of how you operate in that area. Don't go overboard. Focus on achievable goals that you can reach and afford.
Use Social Media
Utilizing social media networks is a good, cost-effective way to promote your business and draw interest from potential clients or customers. If you'd like, you can monetize certain posts as ads and gain more eyes, but only if it's financially feasible.
Develop a schedule
Whether you're posting on social media or advertising traditionally, you need to have a schedule. Try to schedule a minimum of a week in advance in the beginning. As you continue with this, you can begin to carve out time to make a schedule that can go out as far as you'd like. If you take a day or two each week or each month to put a schedule together, it will give you the opportunity to focus on other parts of your business.
